Fincantieri and Navantia sign memorandum to fund MMPC corvette construction, reshaping European naval projects as France loses influence while Greece and Romania show interest.

The Italian company Navantia have signed a memorandum for the funding of a subsidiary that will focus on the construction of the MMPC (EPC) corvette. Both Spain and Italy want a more capable vessel armed with more weapons and sensors while France ain’t for long range patrol corvette for her overseas holdings. This development has created some questions though as France will lost a significant amount of influence on the project and

navalgroup will lose on much wanted construction effort. During the past years a number of headlines broke cover over the potential acquisition of a number of Gowind Corvettes by France in place of the MMPC, a scenario that becomes increasingly likely. Greece and Romania have also expressed intent to procure a number of these corvettes as well.
